The Living Word

Psalm 143

1 Hear my prayer, O Lord, give ear to my supplications: in thy faithfulness answer me, and in thy righteousness.

2 And enter not into judgment with thy servant: for in thy sight shall no man living be justified.

3 For the enemy hath persecuted my soul; he hath smitten my life down to the ground; he hath made me to dwell in darkness, as those that have been long dead.

4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all thy works; I muse on the work of thy hands.

6 I stretch forth my hands unto thee: my soul thirsteth after thee, as a thirsty land. Selah.

7 Hear me speedily, O Lord: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit.

8 Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee.

9 Deliver me, O Lord, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me.

10 Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.

11 Quicken me, O Lord, for thy name’s sake: for thy righteousness’ sake bring my soul out of trouble.

12 And of thy mercy cut off mine enemies, and destroy all them that afflict my soul: for I am thy servant.

The Living Word

Acts 17:24-31

24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

25 Neither is worshipped with men’s hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.

30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

John 14:5-11
5 Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?

6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

8 Philip saith unto him, Lord, show us the Father, and it sufficeth us.

9 Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, Show us the Father?

10 Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but the Father that dwelleth in me, he doeth the works.

11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works’ sake.

Something To Think About…

Whenever there is a renovation going on the building looks a wreck. Things are ripped out and torn down. Signs are posted saying “Please excuse the mess” to placate those easily frustrated or uncomfortable with the changes. Some people speculate what the new building will look like while others might wonder if it will be more functional/useful to the community. The process is usually long, drawn out, tiresome, and demanding on those involved, yet the finished product (if completed by capable hands) far exceeds most expectations. The torn up mess is quickly forgotten as the vision is finally realized. As a believer, you might sometimes go through this same process, and while onlookers might look, gossip, and criticize you for your apparent state of disarray do not worry, doubt, or fear. Just go through the process resting in the capable and caring hands of our Lord and Savior, Jesus. He will beautify the meek. He will do a great work in you and through you if you allow Him to do so. Trust Him. Don’t begrudge the process!!

Don’t quit!!

No matter your situation or circumstance don’t give in and don’t give up if you are a child of God!!! Keep the faith knowing that even if it doesn’t feel good to you (in the flesh) it is still working for your good and is good for you (in the spirit)!!! Stop looking at things with your natural eyes and judging, instead walk in the spirit. Change your perspective!! Trials may hurt, but they teach you humility, cause you to be more sympathetic and empathetic to those round about you, and draw you to your knees and ultimately to the foot of our Lord. Don’t get bitter instead allow your cross to make you better. Trust God. Keep the faith. It’s working for your good!!! God can and will do exceedingly, abundantly more than you can ever ask or think if you let Him!!!!

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

1Thessalonians 5:18 In everything give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

It’s working for my good!! It’s working for your good!!! All for his purpose and glory!!! Trust Him!!!

In college I joined a sorority, and one of the words from one of our steps says, “This is a serious matter!”. Now, all these years later these words come to my remembrance,  but for a different purpose to remind myself and others that our soul’s salvation is a serious matter!! It is a heaven or hell matter!! It is a life or death matter!! It is truly a serious matter!! So, what are you going to do about it? What are you doing to ensure you are a prepared person for a prepared place? This is no joke! This is truly a serious matter!! One day we must all give a report. One day we must all stand before the King of kings. I pray that each of us will be ready, for it is truly a serious matter!!
