Hours, days, months go into ministry before the preacher, praise team, or worship arts team comes before the congregation for mere minutes in comparison (at least I know it does for us at my church). Late nights and early mornings are the norm, but rarely or never seen by the casual onlooker. While others enjoy down time those in ministry pour hours of family time, free time, and sleep time into preparation. So much is done behind the scenes before those mere minutes happen prayerfully with anointing and a great move of the Spirit of God upon the congregation. Ministry takes dedication!! Ministry takes discipline!! Ministry takes work!!
Don’t believe me? Read your bible and see how many days, months, years God’s chosen vessels went through preparation before being used by God. David was annointed King long before he took on the position, but he was being prepared and working even in the fields. Joseph endured betrayal after betrayal, but kept working faithfully, and every seemingly setback was actually positioning him for where he needed to be at in due season. The same applies to Ruth in the fields, and Ester’s preparation before being chosen as the new queen. Over and over again you see the same thing: preparation, work, disillusionment or fear, and ministry. Noah had to prepare and build the boat in the face of ridicule, but his obedience saved his family!
However, here’s an important point we must not forget…that we are ALL called to minister one to another!! So, with that being said take a moment to see how you are preparing yourself to minister to your loved ones and community. Your daily bible study and devotion time may be forgotten often in the midst of a busy schedule, and if so reprioritize your life so that you can be in position to minister to that one person who is waiting for an answer!! Hours of preparation sitting at the master’s feet will never be wasted time, even if you simply touch another’s life on God’s behalf for mere minutes. Ministry matters, but ministry requires work and sacrifice by those who truly desire to be used for His glory!!
1 Peter 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:
