Something To Think About…

20180713_065422_0001

Sharing an old Facebook post today. Please share your thoughts in the comments!!

You may not be able to depend on people to stay with you through the storm to comfort and help you in your time of distress. You might even lose some things or suffer damages in the process, however be of good courage. You have prepared in advance for the storm that has come upon you through prayer, fasting, studying the word, and obedience. Now, sit back and relax, knowing God is there to keep you and comfort you with His strength, power, provision, and never ending love!

Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)

6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Luke 8:23-25(KJV)

23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Reflection On Texas Devastation

One of the saddest phrases heard repeatedly in the reports coming from Texas over the past few days are the survivor’s distraught words, “I have lost everything that I have worked for my entire life”. The harsh reality of how quickly everything can be wiped out glares in our face through the media, and the anguish in the speakers’ voices and eyes are heartbreaking. Yet, we hear this same anguished cry again and again from the various people who have been impacted by the storm during interview after interview. As we pray and weep for those who are suffering in the aftermath of this devastation let us also stop to consider our own ways.

Are we building on a strong foundation that will not pass away which is Christ Jesus, or foolishly building on sinking sand? Are we focused on our eternal home in heaven, or becoming entangled in the carnal things of this world? Are we still trusting in God to keep us from day to day, or are we now depending on making our own way in our own strength? Are we dedicating our life to building up God’s kingdom as wise stewards, or squandering our resources on temporary pleasures of this life and personal material gains that will rot away?

Times like this cause us to pause and reflect on what is truly important: our family and our soul’s salvation. It forces us to stop the busyness of life and simply hold onto our loved ones a little tighter. It reminds us to tell them we love them today, because tomorrow is not promised. It pushes us to be more compassionate and forgiving to those round about us who are suffering and in need, and to release our differences as we unite as one for a greater cause. Most importantly, it causes us to remember to look up, because our redemption draweth nigh.

Stand On It…

Proverbs 23:5 Wilt thou set thine eyes upon that which is not? for riches certainly make themselves wings; they fly away as an eagle toward heaven.

1 Timothy 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;

Matthew 6:19 Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:

Psalm 39:6 Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them.

Matthew 16:26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Walk It Out…
Stop and take a moment to meditate on this devotional and more importantly the mighty Word of God. How does this apply to you on today? What are you currently believing God for in your life? What do you need to let go of or stop doing immediately? What do you need to begin doing? Pray and listen. Now step out in faith and go forth in Jesus name!

Seeking Security? Find It Here…

Security is defined in Webster as freedom from danger, safety, freedom from fear or anxiety, and freedom from want or deprivation.  In the Word of God, we find many promises from God to fulfill all of these needs in our lives and more!

In his arms, we can feel protected and sure knowing that He will take care of us, for He has already given us the greatest gift; freedom from sin by His ultimate sacrifice of dying on the cross.  In Psalms 91:1 it is declared “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. ”  What a wonderful revelation it is to find that all we need is available through God, and can be obtained, according to His will and purpose, by simply asking in faith.

It is also declared that God is a refuge and fortress, a deliverer, a cover, and a shield and buckler for the just man. In Him we can find peace, provision, prosperity, and protection.  Praise God for being our shelter in the storm and our strength from day to day for He is truly worthy to be praised!

Words To Stand On…

Psalm 61:3

For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.

John 8:36

36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.

Psalm 91:4

4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
