Something To Think About…

20180713_065422_0001

Sharing an old Facebook post today. Please share your thoughts in the comments!!

You may not be able to depend on people to stay with you through the storm to comfort and help you in your time of distress. You might even lose some things or suffer damages in the process, however be of good courage. You have prepared in advance for the storm that has come upon you through prayer, fasting, studying the word, and obedience. Now, sit back and relax, knowing God is there to keep you and comfort you with His strength, power, provision, and never ending love!

Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)

6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Luke 8:23-25(KJV)

23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

We Can Do It Better Together!

The greatest brotherhood (or sisterhood) you could ever join is truly the body of Christ.  A church that is unified can not be divided or stopped in it’s pursuit to carry out the work of God.

A body that is led by the Spirit exudes the love and joy of Jesus, and those who enter into the assembly are engulfed by the sweet presence of the Lord. To reach this place of peace and unity it is important that each member determine to work in their own area of strength(s), and not focus on or envy the accomplishments or gifting(s) of their fellow brother or sister.  Each member must come together with a mind set to give their best in whatever area they are called to at that particular time in their walk, either as an usher, prayer warrior, deacon, preacher, etc.

Teamwork is essential for goals to be reached by the assembly, and for souls to be saved.  Think of the movie Teenage Mutant Ninjas.  I was impressed with the personal observation that it was important for each turtle to find their purpose as part of the team in order for them all to succeed.  It would not work if the wrong one was in charge, or if the one with the physical strength was out of position, or if the brain of the operation was busy doing some menial task instead of focusing on organizing the plan of attack.   It was necessary for the one who was strong in mind, who had self control to realize his purpose as the leader of the group.  It was necessary for the one who was strong physically to realize his purpose as the strength of the team.  All though this was a children’s movie it gave some important ideas for us as adults to meditate upon if we would just pay attention

If you ever joined a sorority or fraternity you remember the closeness of the line as it pledged, and the need to band together in the face of each new challenge.  How even more important is it for the brothers and sisters in the church to stand together as one united front against the attacks of the enemy.  Another important feature of a fraternity or sorority is the fact that you are identified as a member no matter where you go by your unique signs, calls, etc., and can look for someone you have never met before to step up to lend you a hand just because of your membership in their organization.  Wow, that is amazing, but how much greater it would be for us, the body of Christ, to have that same unity but according to the Word of God.

We should be identifiable where ever we go by our works, by our walk, and our talk as different from the world.  The signs that others should see is the power of God working in and through us as we go out to preach the word, lay hands on the sick, and heal the land.   The call that should be heard is “Hallelujah”, as we give Him the highest praise.  A child of God should be able to go into another assembly or relocate to a new area, and be welcomed into the family with love.  Our identifiable uniform, as a member of this great brotherhood, is to be clothed in holiness and meekness.  We are called to join together as a family, comprised of one body, with one mind, and one goal to serve the Lord with gladness.

When we each find our place in the body and serve with faithfulness and unity we will accomplish great things for the kingdom.  Let’s join together, and set aside childish squabbles and petty envying of others, and instead become helpers one of another.  Let’s look for the good in each other, and encourage each person to work in their area of strength(s) instead of focusing on their weakness.  Let’s speak words of life and hope to one another, and not death.  Let’s dig deeper into the word of God and give ourselves to living as God has called us to do, and ultimately may we all find that the greatest brotherhood we could ever join is, and always has been, the kingdom of God.

Words To Stand On…

1 Corinthians 12:12-18

12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.

13 For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

14 For the body is not one member, but many.

15 If the foot shall say, Because I am not the hand, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

16 And if the ear shall say, Because I am not the eye, I am not of the body; is it therefore not of the body?

17 If the whole body were an eye, where were the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where were the smelling?

18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.

Psalm 133:1

Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!

John 13:35

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Marriage Is A Partnership

I woke up with this strong on my mind early this morning. I couldn’t sleep no matter how I tried, so I’m sharing. May the Lord have His way.

One day, out of the blue, my daughter says “Mom I’m going to marry a man who cooks for me. I’m not going to do like you do, and cook all the time. Daddy can serve you too”. Lol. Please note, my husband does cook occasionally, but I usually do it the most and I don’t mind (most of the time). 😊 So, here I am, listening to my daughter, trying to figure out her mindset and where she was going with this train of thought. We had an interesting talk that day.

I get what she meant in general, why am I the wife always serving my husband while he sits back like a king? He is my King by the way. However, there’s a part she missed. I cook, prepare the plates, and serve my husband and children. (Family dinner is IMPORTANT, a biggie on my list, but hard to maintain as your children become young adults with jobs and busy schedules!) Anyway, yes, I do serve my husband and family this way, and to her young eyes it was a negative on that day.

However, here’s the part she missed (at least at that moment). My husband also serves me. He always holds doors for me, because I am his queen. He pulls up to the door in parking lots so I don’t have to walk, because I am his queen. He opens the car door for me to get in, although I could easily do it myself, because I am his queen. Plus, so many more little things we can easily take for granted. We serve each other. We submit one to another!!

That’s in the Bible too, by the way…

Ephesians 5:21

21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God.

So often in a marriage or sermon you hear this quoted:

Ephesians 5:22

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Christ had all power and authority, but he walked in submission and humility. Wives strive to do likewise. There’s a blessing in it. Christ submitted to the will of God by choice, not by force and definitely not by demand. Men, remember that.

I see wives at gatherings who are sad, overlooked, and overworked while their husbands mingle happily along, oblivious or uncaring about the pain they cause their wives with simple neglect. Baby crying, wife go get them. Baby hungry, wife go feed them. Baby running around, wife go chase them. Everyone having fun with the wife stuck on the sidelines, but really how hard would it be for the husband to say at a function, babe go mingle and I will care for Johnny and Sue for a moment (after all it took two to get the little one there in the first place). Right?! Maybe, there would be less women dealing with anxiety and depression if they had a moment to simply breathe. Breathe ladies. Breathe. Just a thought.

Some men love the above verse (Ephesians 5:22) and focus on it exclusively when it comes to their marriage without ever taking the time to read on. I even pointed it out to someone before, but they said “we’re not talking about that”. Wow! However, let’s see what else it says:

Ephesians 5:25

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Humm. Interesting. This thing right here is not lopsided as so many imply or falsely believe (some unfortunately to the point of emotional and or physical abuse). God has placed standards in place to help us all have the best marriages possible if we choose to listen and obey. How much did Christ love the church? Enough to die!! Men, did you get that? Enough to die!!

Let us strive to love one another as the bible says, after all it is the best way. Be blessed on today!!

Words To Stand On…

Ephesians 5:25

25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;

Ephesians 5:22

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord.

Romans 12: 9-10

9Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good.

10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another;

Love Is An Action Word

The enemy comes to kill, steal, and destroy.  We, the saints of God, acknowledge that this is so with our mouths, but our actions sometimes show we think differently.  We must strive daily to avoid offense and live peaceably.  The enemy loves to stir up strife, and he does his job so well!  Everyone would get along so much better if we would each strive daily to obey this simple commandment:

John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.
35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

Obeying  the 10 commandments of the old testament is fulfilled by obeying this one commandment in the new testament.

If a husband and wife love their spouse, as Christ loved the church, it would be impossible for them to commit adultery.

If children loved their parents, as Christ loved the church, they would not talk back or disregard their parents directions that are given in love for their protection and instruction.

If the church loved one another, as Christ loved the church, we would get rid of envy, jealousy, hatred and strife, we would submit to leadership and follow “house rules” like we do on our jobs daily without question, and we would have no concern that a brother or sister might steal from us or murder u(physically or verbally).

If we loved in our community, like Christ loved the church, we would serve one another, obey those who have authority over us, and work faithfully on our jobs(as unto the Lord). We would not allow petty arguing to come between us, to separate and divide, but submit ourselves one to the other.

We are instructed to abstain from those things that might cause a weaker brother to stumble, and to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling.  We must strive daily in all we do, say, and think to lift up Christ before those round about us, and that is impossible to do until we first love one another as Christ has loved us!

Words To Stand On…

John 13:34-35

34 A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another.

35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

4 Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,

5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;

6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;

7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.

Deuteronomy 6:5

5 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.
