Something To Think About…

The joy of the Lord is my strength! Sorrow abounds all around us as we or our loved ones deal with stress, disappointments, illness, and loss, yet still we can find joy in the presence of the Lord! When darkness tries to overtake me I look to the hills from whence comes my help. My help comes from the Lord! Your help comes from the Lord too! I might have to cry sometimes, but I hold fast to God’s promise that one day He will wipe away every tear! I may not always understand “why”, but I’m thankful for the peace of God that surpasses all understanding. The one who can keep me and you through it all, the great I am, is always with us even when we might feel alone and forsaken. God said He will never leave us nor forsake us, and we must believe this as we walk in faith through the storms of life. I may feel sadness try to overtake me unawares, but in the presence of my Lord it must flee! The joy of the Lord is my strength! I will trust and abide in Him!!

Today we pause to remember…

Prayers for the families of all those who lost loved ones. Prayers for those of us who remain that we will be ready to meet the Lord when our time comes. One day the Lord will wipe away every tear. One day there will be no more death, dying, and despair. We look to the hills from whence comes our help. Our help comes from the Lord!!

20 Tips For Redeeming Your Time

Stepping Stones 123

One day I was listening to the radio, and heard a great message by “Kingdom Builders Ministry”.  I don’t know where the church is located or anything, but there were some great tips shared by the speaker.  It caught my attention, so I pulled my car over to a safe spot to write most of them out before I forgot them.  Am I the only one who does this at times?  Hopefully not.  I might be revealing my weird side right now. LOL.

Anyway, here are the tips I was able to remember and record on my phone’s note taking app in no particular order, and I hope it helps somebody else too.  I love, love, love all types of organization tips and learning from others to make my life simpler as a busy wife, mother, and teacher.  There is always something new we can learn from those around us no matter how old or how young they might be, how rich or poor, or how high or low (in the world’s estimation). Anyway, here’s a few tips for you to check out and implement as you choose.

(Please note, that I have taken the liberty to add to and reword as I deemed appropriate to make this list of 20 tips.)

  1. Don’t get distracted and realize too late that life has got away from you.
  2. Take the vacation. Stop talking about going on a cruise, going to Paris, etc. Just go do what you said you want to do before it’s too late. Go make memories with those you love!
  3. Don’t be too busy over working, watching tv, checking out Facebook and Instagram post, etc. that you miss the important while focusing on the mundane.
  4. Remember that man’s days are limited in the overall expanse of time.
  5. We all have a purpose and need to be busy doing all that God has called us to be.
  6. Don’t die without giving the best version of you and building the greatest legacy of what you have to give to those you will leave behind.
  7. Nobody knows how much time they will have left, so don’t waste your time! Don’t just dream, but do!
  8. Recharge your body so that you can do what God calls you to do physically and mentally.
  9. Listen so God can take you where He desires you to go, so that you don’t become anxious, frustrated, and too tired to do what He actually wants you to do.
  10. Schedule time to rest and relax.  Take a day to rest regularly for a moment of clarity and solitude.
  11. Maximize your time, instead of wasting time on tv, games, social media, etc. Focus on bible study, prayer, planning, relationship building, etc.
  12. Don’t hesitate to take a break when needed even Jesus took a nap and separated from the crowd at times.
  13. Don’t feel guilty for taking ownership of your time when you have numerous responsibilities, goals, and priorities.  Don’t allow anyone to guilt you in to fulfilling their personal desires at the expense of your own.
  14. Exercise. Make healthy eating choices.
  15. Don’t allow anyone to disrespect your time! Reclaim your time just like Maxine Waters. (Smile)
  16. Be intentional. Plan dedicated time blocks for what you need to accomplish and limit distractions.
  17. Say no to nonessentials. It’s okay to say no! Truly it is!
  18. List your goals out so you can plainly see where you are trying to go. Write that vision!
  19. List your priorities.  Plan, add, and subtract from your schedule accordingly.
  20. Acknowledge the Lord in all your ways and He will direct your path.

If I…

Matthew 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be made whole.

If I … Wow. Two little words, yet so powerful!!
If I… Words that expressed determination to press through and to press on no matter the obstacles that lie ahead!
If I… Words that required tremendous faith to reach out to the great physician!
If I… Words that required ignoring past disappointments and failures.
If I.. Words that drove out doubt and no options.
If I… Words that expressed hope and a personal choice.
If I… Words that gave focus in the midst of naysayers, doubters, and societies set rules.
If I… Words that went beyond what was seen with the natural eye and pushed forward into the supernatural, spiritual.
If I… Words that revealed understanding that true faith requires action!
If I…

Good night!!

Our family has been blessed with strong women of God as role models!! None of us children have an excuse for not living right, because they taught us the way and were living examples before us too!! I remember like it was yesterday watching them pray, teach, and preach with such power and annointing. They didn’t play church or go to be entertained!! They were on a mission, and took their assignments seriously!!

I love hearing the stories of how my great grandmother was still witnessing in the nursing home until her death, and how my grandmother made sure the family knew what needed to be done so everything was in order before simply praying and speaking in tongues as she passed. She died the way she lived as a prayer warrior, so quiet but so fierce in the Lord!! My heart. My everything. Words could never explain.

Now we must say farewell to another sweet soul, but this morning as I rode to work these words were on my heart, “1 Corinthians 15:55 O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”. Our hearts might break, but It’s not over!! We must continue to work while it is yet day, and keep pressing towards the mark for the prize of the high calling, When we all get to heaven what a day of rejoicing that will be!! When we all see Jesus we will sing and shout the victory!!

Something To Think About…

Sharing an old Facebook post today. Please share your thoughts in the comments!!

You may not be able to depend on people to stay with you through the storm to comfort and help you in your time of distress. You might even lose some things or suffer damages in the process, however be of good courage. You have prepared in advance for the storm that has come upon you through prayer, fasting, studying the word, and obedience. Now, sit back and relax, knowing God is there to keep you and comfort you with His strength, power, provision, and never ending love!

Deuteronomy 31:6 (KJV)

6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.

Deuteronomy 31:8 (KJV)

8 And the Lord, he it is that doth go before thee; he will be with thee, he will not fail thee, neither forsake thee: fear not, neither be dismayed.

Luke 8:23-25(KJV)

23 But as they sailed he fell asleep: and there came down a storm of wind on the lake; and they were filled with water, and were in jeopardy.

24 And they came to him, and awoke him, saying, Master, master, we perish. Then he arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm.

25 And he said unto them, Where is your faith? And they being afraid wondered, saying one to another, What manner of man is this! for he commandeth even the winds and water, and they obey him.

Whosoever Will Let Them

Let’s declare this a year of personal responsibility, and go forth knowing we are no longer babes in Christ.

Hebrews 5:12-14 and 6:1-2 states that when we ought to be teachers we must be retaught the basic things of Christ again. Uh Oh. That’s not good. We must do what is necessary to mature in the things of God for our perfecting and the benefit of the kingdom. We must go forth knowing that God is with us, and is able to give us all that we need to do those things that we are called to do for Him and in our daily lives.  We are called to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, so that we can be a prepared people for a prepared place, Philippians 2:12-15. No longer should we stand still or worst go back to the things of the past that were of little or no value when God has such great things planned for us. If we would just believe and go forth in Him doing those things that we know to be right in His sight, then he can reveal more to us as we go forth and allow us to see a greater portion of His plan for us today.

There are many hindrances to our personal growth that we must let go of if we truly want to claim all that God has set aside just for us.

First, the belief that “I am not qualified” as was seen when Moses was called to go lead Israel out from slavery. Exodus 4:10-12. Moses question was “Who am I?”, but it does not matter who we are when God is with us because He has all power in His hand. The question should not be “Who am I”, but instead “Who is the God I serve” for there is none greater.  Moses said God should use someone else, Exodus 14:13-16, but God knows what he has placed in each of us and what we are capable of accomplishing with His grace and power.  We must trust God, and go forth believing that all that we need has already been provided to accomplish that which we have been called to do.  The wisdom, provision, and connections that we need to complete a task are already there although we may not see them with our natural eye.  Philippians 4:13 states “I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me”.

The second hindrance to our growth is fear, but “God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power and a sound mind”.  Ester had to face fear when she was called upon to appear before the king without being summoned on behalf of her people, but finally came to a peace to go forth no matter the consequences and declared “if I perish let me perish”.  Esther 4:13-14.  Mordecai assured her that God would deliver His people with or without her, but the lost would be her own if she failed to do what she was instructed to do.  Even today, the choice is ours, to do what God tells us to do and be a part of what He is doing, or stand back and watch in fear and doubt, and lose out on our part of the vision.  Our humble cry should be like the songwriter, Bishop Paul S. Morton, “Lord whatever you are doing in this season, please don’t do it without me”!!

The third hindrance, is feeling lost and saying, “I don’t know what to do”. Proverbs 3:6 states that we should acknowledge the Lord in all our ways, and he would direct our path.  We can go forth by starting with the basics and doing those simple things that we already know to do.  Matthews 25:35-36 talks about helping others. Ephesians 4:32 talks of having the right attitude towards others, one of kindness. Luke 14:12-14 talks about helping the needy. Hebrews 10:25 tells us to forsake not the assembling of ourselves together (in other words don’t skip church).  Finally, we can use those gifts that God has given to us (natural and spiritual) to help in the ministry: 1 Corinthians 12:4-11, Ephesians 4:11-12, Ephesians 4:22-32.

The fourth hindrance to our growth and walk with Christ is being too busy, but we must remember that only what we do for Christ will last.  We must maintain our personal relationship with Christ by continually coming to sit at His feet to hear his instructions and guidance throughout our ministry and life. The things of this world will pass away, but the things of God are for evermore.  The recent disasters show this so clearly as we see the images of homes, vehicles, businesses washed away so quickly like flimsy pieces of paper.  Think of all the energy, time, money, and more importantly lives that have been destroyed in such a brief moment of time, but what joy it is to know that if our hope is in Christ we are building on a strong foundation that will stand forever.

We must constantly reevaluate our walk with Christ, and the things that we are involved with in our daily lives to ensure that we are prioritizing those things that are of most value: our spiritual life, our family, and our health to name a few.  We must be willing to make personal sacrifice and give up those things that are not like Christ, and that keep us from being in his perfect will for our lives.  We must forsake all that is not like Him, and does not bring glory to His name and this is a difficult thing to do sometimes, but if we seek God and not the things of the world everything will work out right. God knows the things that we need and desire, and will provide those things for us if we would just believe Him and go forth in obedience to do those things that he has instructed us to already do.  Luke 14:26-33, Luke 12:29-37.

The final hindrance that I will address is the belief that we are too young or too old to work for God.  Sometimes you will hear people say “I’m not ready”, “I still want to party and have fun”, and on and on it goes.  However, today is the day when we hear God’s voice that  we must make a decision to answer His call while there is still time.  Young and old are dying daily, and we do not know how long we have before we will have to make that same final journey, but we do know that we have a choice and an opportunity right now to serve Him.  The old have the wisdom, but the young have the strength to carry out the work that must be done for the glory of God and for the up building of the kingdom.

Let’s set aside all those things that keep us from going forth into the promised land, and answer the call to go forth and do greater works.   John 14:12-13.  We are encouraged to do whatever our hands find to do as unto the Lord, and God has promised to prosper us and to allow us to find favor in the sight of those who have the rule over us.  Ecclesiastes 9:10. We must make a decision today to serve God, and to do all that we can in His name, and we will surely see the mighty hand of God move in our lives and on our behalf.  God needs those who will be faithful workers in His kingdom, and it’s up to each of us to do our part while we still have time.  Joshua 24:15.

Whosoever will let them… will you?

Philippians 2:12

12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Colossians 3:23

23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;

A Faithful God

Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good and His mercy endureth forever!  Praise God for His many blessings.   As I look back over my life I see the hand of God working and moving in my life.  Helping me along this life journey to hold on just a little while longer. Pushing me to move on in faith while trusting and believing that somehow, someway a way would be made for me to come out on the other side of my trials and tribulations, inspite of how things looked at that time.

I see God’s hand adding those people and resources necessary for me to reach my goals and fulfill my purpose in life.  I see God’s hand removing those things that would hinder me from staying focused or cause me to stumble on my journey, and I praise Him for his mighty acts.  Although I may not always understand his way and his timing, life experience has taught me that I can trust Him to take me through whatever I might face.

I may struggle for a time, cry out in pain or fear, and ask a simple “why”, but in the end I know it is always best to be still and wait on the Lord to renew my strength.  It is in that time of resting and waiting that I can find peace in His loving arms, and ultimately an answer.  One step at a time, one day at a time, I’m on my way home Lord, and I am so grateful for all you have done and are doing in my life each day to help me move forward!

Words To Stand On…

Proverbs 3:5-6

5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Psalm 61:1-2

1 Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

2 From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.

Matthew 11:28

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
