The root of all evil is money! It doesn’t matter if you are rich or if you are poor. It doesn’t matter if you have a lot or if you have a little. What truly matters is how do you view money. What are you willing to do to get money? What are you willing to sacrifice to keep it? How do you plan on using what you have now, whether you have much or little?
Do you use your finances to build up God’s kingdom or are you foolishly building your own worldly one that will rot away in your lust? Do you honor God willingly in your giving with your first fruits and offerings? Do you use what you have to care for your family as you are called to do? Do you sacrifice your integrity and character to obtain money? Do you help the poor and afflicted around you with the money that you have already gained? Do you plan for the future and make preparation for leaving an inheritance to your children and your children’s children (both financially and spiritually)? These are just a few questions to consider as you look at your finances. Open your checkbook and your eyes, and you will see where your heart truly is in this season.
The car that you drive belongs to God. The house that you live in belongs to God. The buildings you build belong to God. The land that you farm belongs to God. The clothes you wear belongs to God. That woman or man you say you love belongs to God. The children you raise belong to God. The money you have whether much or little belongs to God.
You and I are simply stewards of it all, and whether we do good or bad with what we have been given is up to us. We can multiply it to build up and edify the kingdom and one another, or squander it all away to our own loss and ultimate shame. It’s up to each of us to decide, however one day we must all give an account. It behooves us today to get our finances and our thoughts about money in order. We must be led by the Holy Spirit and insure that our heart is right with God, because after all in the end it all belongs to Him.
Words To Stand On…
1 Timothy 6:10
10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.
24 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?
2 Corinthians 9:6-7
6 But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully.
7 Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver.
1 Timothy 5:8
8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.
